Walking The Tightrope - OUT NOW!

Walking The Tightrope, the second album by Nick Toczek & Signia Alpha, is available as a limited edition transparent yellow vinyl LP and as a limited edition CD. The album is a blend of Nick Toczek’s poems and spoken word over dynamic funk and rock grooves with driving bass and guitars with sections of laid back jazz.

'Now, this is good, different, but good! Nick Toczek's vocals deliver a mixture of strange stories or surreal poems over Signia Alpha's soundtrack... driving guitars over a pumping bassline and funkrock drums... a truly remarkable listening experience, well recommended.' ★★★★★ Amazon Review

Central to the whole project are the lyrics and vocals of performer-poet Nick Toczek and drummer and producer Matt Webster. The album features contributions by many distinguished musicians, including a guest appearance by Paul Gray, bassist with The Damned and Eddie & The Hot Rods, on the track ‘Best Wishes’.

Contributors: Nick Toczek (vocals, lyrics), Matt Webster (drums, guitars, bass, keyboards), Keith Jafrate (saxophone), Chris Walsh (flute), Dee Bo General (rap vocals), Mark Cranmer (bass,), Wulf Ingram (guitar), Jack Atkinson (guitar), Simon Nolan (guitar) and Paul Gray (bass).

The eleven-track transparent yellow vinyl album comes complete with a free download, full lyric sheet, inner photo sleeve and full-colour artwork throughout.

Walking The Tightrope is the sequel to their 2020 acclaimed debut album, Shooting The Messenger. Here are extracts from some of the music press reviews of that album:

‘The laid back, funky, jazz-rock vibe that characterises most of this album complements Toczek’s distinctive and, as ever, reassuringly calm, but equally commanding Yorkshire burr perfectly.’ Vive Le Rock!

Toczek has teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Matt Webster and a number of high calibre guest musicians to once again set his powerful verse in a dynamic context. Wit and cynicism are carefully balanced with a keen eye for the beautiful.’ R’N’R Magazine

Signia Alpha provide deep funk-bass… tight jazzy sax and clattering percussion around the thoughts stampeding through Nick Toczek’s brain. Poems you can dance to, stream and download.’ International Times

‘...just what the spoken word and jazz fans have been waiting for.’ Louder Than War
